AI Analysis & Bias Ratings
Every article is evaluated by an AI model that estimates Left, Center, and Right percentages. We calculate the derived Bias Score mathematically: (Right % - Left %) / 100. This produces a value between -1.00 (extreme Left) and +1.00 (extreme Right).
Sentiment labels (Positive, Neutral, Negative) measure the emotional tone and subjectivity of the writing. Factual and objective reporting typically registers near 0 (Neutral), while highly charged or emotional pieces show higher Positive or Negative metrics.
Our ratings are AI-estimated evaluations meant to assist with media literacy. They represent automated computational assessments of linguistic choices and sources rather than objective, absolute truth. We encourage readers to inspect the source articles directly.

RSS Ingestion & Scraping
Lamu News monitors active major publishers. We use RSS feeds to discover stories, and parse the full detail page text to clean it and perform analysis. If standard scraping is blocked, we utilize Oxylabs Web Scraper API as a proxy fallback.
Our automated scraper pipeline runs automatically at the top of every hour, followed by immediate batch AI analysis and vector embeddings generation so new stories appear on the homepage rapidly.
