Northwood raised $375 million in Series C funding, valuing the company at $2 billion.

Andreessen Horowitz and DFJ Growth co-led the round, with HSBC providing separate credit support.

The company will expand its global ground network, accelerate contracts and hire 400 additional employees.

Northwood Space has raised $375 million to expand its satellite ground infrastructure. The Torrance-based company operates a shared network connecting satellites with Earth-based systems.Andreessen Horowitz and DFJ Growth co-led the Series C financing.

Alpine Space Ventures, Washington Harbour Partners, Stepstone Activate and In-Q-Tel also participated. The round reportedly values Northwood at $2 billion. A separate multi-year credit facility from HSBC Innovation Banking will support working capital and network expansion.

The equity financing follows Northwood’s $100 million Series B in January 2026. The company has now raised substantial capital to address growing demand for satellite connectivity. Northwood will use the funding to accelerate existing contracts and recruit additional talent.

It also intends to extend its network for commercial, US government and allied space missions. The funding will speed up the build out of its infrastructure, said co-founder and CEO Bridgit Mendler. “Mission critical satellite communications are critical to the future of space missions,” she said.

Northwood has made significant operational progress since its previous financing. It has deployed six multi-orbit-capable sites across two continents. The company also demonstrated geosynchronous command capabilities using commercial phased-array technology.

This included a full-duplex connection with a government geostationary satellite. Northwood designs and manufactures two primary antenna systems. Portal phased arrays support satellite command and control operations. Prism high-throughput dishes handle payload data transmission.

Its proprietary software combines multiple antennas into larger effective systems. Northwood demonstrated this capability by combining ten Portal units. The configuration reportedly matched the receiving performance of a 20-foot dish.

The company also opened a 185,000-square-foot headquarters and factory in Torrance. This expansion increased its manufacturing footprint more than fivefold. Northwood expects the facility to support production of hundreds of antennas annually.

The expansion comes amid rapid growth in satellite deployments. Northwood, the number of operational satellites has risen from an estimated 3,000 in 2020. The number surpassed 14,000 by the end of 2025. There will be thousands of more satellites launched before 2030.

But ground infrastructure has not grown at the same pace. Satellite owners need reliable links across different orbits, such as geostationary and low earth orbit. Northwood addresses this demand through shared infrastructure. Successful expansion will depend on execution across manufacturing and deployment.

Operators can reserve network capacity without building dedicated ground stations. Its software allows customers to search, reserve and manage satellite communication passes. The company also provides technical support through its Mission Architects.

Additional recruitment will support site operations in Torrance and Washington, DC. Government contracts remain an important part of its commercial strategy. Northwood previously secured a nearly $50 million US Space Force contract. The agreement supports upgrades to the country’s Satellite Control Network.

Its Portal antenna technology also supports the company’s government-focused demonstrations. The latest funding strengthens Northwood’s position in the growing space infrastructure market. Its ability to manufacture hardware and operate a shared network could differentiate its offering.
