Spott secured $21 million so recruitment agencies can have their own AI platform.

The startup unifies fragmented candidate databases and recruitment workflows into one AI-native platform.

Spott plans to open offices in Sydney and New York while expanding its workforce.

When you’re on the outside, recruitment sounds simple. But when you’re inside a recruitment agency, you discover that most of the day is about admin more than it is about people. Recruiters say the actual human judgment part is only about twenty percent of the job.

They face endless tab-switching, chaotic applicant tracking systems, and buried candidate profiles. For this reason, Spott raises $21 million to give recruiters their own AI platform. Spott’s AI operating system will fix the administrative workflow and save time and resources for recruiters.

The Belgium-based startup, Spott, announced that it has raised $21 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Balderton Capital, with backers Base10 Partners, Y Combinator and Fortino.

This follows a $3.2 million seed round back in March 2025, putting Spott’s total funding at $24 million to date. Spott was founded in 2024 by three university friends, Lander Degreve, Manu Vanderveeren and Samuel Smeys.

Before starting Spott, the three worked with recruitment businesses while at McKinsey, Bain and BCG. They saw the same pattern everywhere. Agencies were under a lot of pressure to spend less and place more people in jobs.

Balderton partner Phil Chambers said the founders had a real advantage because they had seen this problem up close in the industry. He said the speed at which customers are joining shows Spott built exactly what the market was waiting for.

Most recruiting agencies use two main types of software. One is called an ATS, which is used to track candidates and open jobs. The other is a CRM, which is used to manage clients.

They also use other types of tools to search for candidates, send emails, take notes and schedule meetings. Basically, if a recruiter finds a candidate in one tool, they have to keep logging that same information into other tools and updating after an email or call.

Spott is proposing collapsing all of that into a single AI-built platform. It pulls information out of emails, CVs, and hiring pipelines and organizes it into searchable records, even across databases holding up to two million candidates.

What matters most is that Spott says it does not want to replace people. The AI is not programmed to move a candidate forward or send them to a client unless a recruiter gives it a thumbs up.

The primary job of the AI is to sort all admin issues, so recruiters can spend their time building relationships and making decisions instead of typing all day.

Spott only launched its full platform six months after raising its seed round, and things have moved fast since. The company says revenue is up more than tenfold since the start of 2026, with over 500 agencies now using it daily.

More than 80% of new customers are finding Spott on their own, without being pitched. Its customer base already spans the globe, roughly 20% of revenue comes from Asia-Pacific, 15% from the US, and the remainder from Europe.

Clients include H.W. Anderson and CGP Group, a 200-person firm that’s rolled Spott out across twelve countries. With the new funding, Spott plans to open offices in Sydney and New York alongside its Leuven headquarters and build out more advanced features such as permissions, security, and reporting for larger agencies.
